Very few corners have been cut, really, as it also has an illuminated screen, and the resolution has come a long way from the earlier cheap Kindles. No waterproofing makes the Paperwhite a better buy when on sale, but the entry-level model is still an excellent e-reader, and it fits inside pockets much more easily than its fancier sibling. This is Amazon’s top streaming stick. With its powerful processor and GPU, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is the fastest streaming device in its price range and now supports console-free Xbox gaming via Game Pass.

I’ve been lucky enough to try out all of this year’s flagship phones, and while it’s disappointing that new iPhones continue to avoid Amazon altogether, Samsung and Pixel have shown up in force. The passport-sized foldable Z Fold 8 has been a huge hit this year, and it’s $350 off at its lowest price yet. The Google Pixel 11 Pro has only been on shelves for a few weeks and is $250 off in its best deal yet for the phone with the best Gemini options and a sweet camera – Brendan Griffiths, Senior commerce director.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8
Now redesigned as a sort of in-between foldable for Samsung’s lineup, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a smaller, more passport-like form that makes it an excellent ereader and a great fit for watching movies. Its lower price point, longer battery life, and brighter display improve upon the previous generation.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra proves to be a worthy follow-up to the successful Fold 7. But if you want a thin, light, and powerful foldable for productivity, there’s no better option than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

It may not be the very best at everything, but comes out swinging such that it might be in the top three in just about any category you want to consider. In everyday performance, the Samsung Galaxy A37 handles most apps and even light gaming admirably, but it’s easy to hit the system limits during heavy-duty multitasking and particularly intense photography sessions. The upgrades this year are minimal aside from improved nighttime photography and Object Eraser, but this shiny Samsung remains one of the better buys under $500, thanks to One UI’s long support life and a host of niche settings.

Some longtime Pixel fans will see the Pixel 11 as proof that Google is using AI as a crutch to avoid competing with bigger brands on raw specs, while still charging more. Others won’t care about specific year-over-year changes and will simply appreciate that the Pixel 11 is faster for daily tasks, far better at capturing far-away details, adds several flashy Gemini tricks, and seemingly solves the long-standing issue with 5G battery drain. Both sides have a fair argument, but ignoring rivals and inflation, the Pixel 11 is undoubtedly a good phone.

When is the October Prime Day sale?
Prime Big Deal Days, also known as Prime Day 2, will officially run from midnight PT on October 6 through to 11:59 p.m. PT on October 7.
This 48-hour window is when most deals will be live, though some started a few days earlier over the weekend. You might get a few stragglers hanging on on Thursday, but not many.
Does every Prime Day deal stay live during the sale?
No. There are lightning deals that are often live for only a few hours or until they sell out. Amazon is also releasing new deals intermittently during the two-day sale, so new offers will appear throughout.
Non-lightning deals are generally supposed to last until the sale ends once they go live, but Amazon and its merchant partners often only have a set number of units they’re willing to sell at a Prime Day price, so it’s not uncommon to see some items become unavailable or go back up to their regular price in the middle of the event.

Things like tariffs or the RAM crisis. After all, we expect many things, electronics in particular, to get more expensive going forward for a while.
If I’m highlighting a deal on an item we haven’t tested on the team, you can rest assured we’ve done our due diligence by looking up reviews from other sites (if available), customer reviews and ratings, and checking for any red flags or frequent return labels on Amazon. TLDR: products I’d consider putting my own money down for, or recommending to friends or family.
